The Ministry of Labour, Training & Skills Development (MLTSD) Working at Heights training requirements came into effect on April 1 2015 to serve the purpose of ensuring that workers in the construction sector successfully complete a Working at Heights training program delivered by an approved training provider.
Working at Heights training is valid for three (3) years from the date of successful completion of an approved program. After three (3) years, all learners who wish to maintain the validity of their Working at Heights training need to successfully complete a refresher training course. Working at Heights refresher training reinforces key learning outcomes for workers who are exposed to the danger of a fall on construction projects. All workers must be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the correct use of fall protection equipment.
During this refresher training you will discuss;
- Barriers, guardrails and safety nets
- Personal fall protection equipment (including practical demonstration) and detailed calculations of fall distances
- Anchor points
- Work positioning systems, work access equipment and platforms
- Rescue planning
- Applicable regulatory and equipment changes
Participants of the Working at Heights Refresher training will be required to provide photo identification on the day of training (driver’s license or photo health card are acceptable) and show proof of successful completion of an approved Working at Heights program (card containing a learner ID number as provided from the MLTSD).
