Slips, trips and falls (STFs) are often the foundation to a great slapstick comedy skit – however, in the workplace, slips trips and fall can prove to be deadly! They are one of the most common, yet preventable, workplace hazards.
In Canada, STFs are the third largest contributor to workplace lost time incidents. Not only are they an issue for worker’s injuries, but the potential business liability is also high for workplaces that have patrons or the general public present in their organizations. Applying basic precautions is not only easy and cost effective, but can reduce the risk of slip, trip or fall related injuries.
This overview will address the risk factors and control measures associated with slips trips and falls in the workplace.
