When hiring outside vendors and contractors, it is essential to realize that health and safety responsibilities are not necessarily transferred to the company hired to fulfill the service. Therefore, to help ensure and maintain due diligence and minimize the potential risk of injury or damage to workers or property that may be incurred during a contractor relationship with your company, this program has been developed.
Upon completing this online course, participants will understand:
- The difference between maintenance work and construction type work – which may have an impact on legal health and safety responsibilities
- Specific roles and responsibilities as they relate to the contractor safety program
- The “hands off” approach, or transfer of health and safety liability
- The key steps to an effective contractor safety program, including prequalification, selecting the best contractor and evaluating contracted work.
