This condensed course is inclusive of Hours of Service, Schedule 1 and Load Securement. It is designed to give owners, operators and/or persons involved in fleet safety and compliance an understanding of the details of a Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) and the conditions required to maintain a CVOR in good standing. This course will take a look at the monitoring process, the safety rating process, audit procedures used by the MTO and how the CVOR information can be used as a tool to identify and correct possible operational problems. In addition, this course will assist participants on how to corroborate due diligence in all areas of their operations such as maintaining driver and maintenance records.

  • Reviewing Hours of Service Logs
  • Enforcement and Penalties

Load Securement:

  • Inspection Criteria
  • Interpretation of NSC Standard 10
  • Concepts of Working Load Limits

Schedule One:

  • Understanding of each part of Schedule 1
  • Understanding of how to fill out inspection reports correctly
  • How to identify a Minor and major vehicle defects
  • What must be done when a Major defect is identified
