This Health & Safety Awareness for Supervisors (National) course is designed to provide Supervisors with a general awareness of their occupational health and safety rights and responsibilities.
A Supervisor can be defined as anyone who “has charge of a workplace or authority over a worker”. The scope and description of Supervisors can vary across Canadian jurisdictions;
This course will enable participants to:
- Be familiar with the various provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts
- Know the basic rights and responsibilities of Employers, Supervisors and workers
- Understand the role of the Supervisor within the Internal Responsibility System
- Be aware of the Supervisor’s role in hazard recognition and assessment, risk evaluation and control implementation
- Understand the value of workplace policies and procedures, training, posters and other preventative measures
- Be familiar with the various sources of health and safety information in Canadian jurisdictions
- Understand the position of Supervisor as a role model for healthy and safe work habits
